What does DVD Multi recorder mean on Toshiba laptops?
I have a Toshiba laptop which is about two years old and it says that it is DVD Multi recorder. Does it mean that I can make a copy from a DVD onto a blank DVD writable? Or does it mean I can record DVD's from the internet. What is the meaning of this? Thank you for your time!
There is no manual. There is actually a Guide which is saved by the Toshiba company on my desktop. I read it carefully but it doesn't say much. How do I know how to use it and how it works? Thank you!
So does this mean I can make a copy of a dvd movie onto a blank DVD-R?

You can try going to Toshiba's web site and looking up your laptop's model number to get more information on the type of discs and the maximum write speeds of your CD/DVD burner.
Didn't your laptop come with any CD/DVD disc burning programs? I have a 1 year old Toshiba Sattellite laptop and it came with a scaled-down CD/DVD burning program. XP itself can create CD data discs, and Media Player can create .mp3 and audio CD discs, but XP cannot burn DVD discs. You'll need a 3rd party CD/DVD burning program.

You'll have to do some Internet searching for more information on burning CDs and DVD discs, or your local library or book store may have a book on burning CDs.

It means that it can burn both CD discs and DVD discs. Your manual will state the type of CD and DVD discs that it can record (burn) with. If your laptop is a recent one, then you should be able to burn dual layer (9 gigabyte) DVD discs too. With the right CD/DVD burning software, you can back up data to recordable CD or DVD discs, create audio CD discs, create DVD video discs which can be used in your home DVD player, create .MP3 CDs, etc. You can copy DVD data discs and DVD discs without copy protection with any DVD disc burning software, but copying copy-protected DVD movie discs require special software that is designed for breaking the copy-protection.
